Three prizes at the 2019 Louisiana Film Prize Junior, including Best Film, were awarded to Mr. Mason’s Digital Media Students, #SciHighWorks

The Grand Prize winning short film, “Like a Ship Without a Sail,” received a $5,000 film and media equipment grant from the Film Prize Foundation, $1,000 to the school to be used to celebrate the students’ achievement, and $1,000 to the Film Prize teacher sponsor of the winning film, Mr. E’Jaaz Mason. The group was also awarded the Outstanding Actor prize (12th grader Lawrence Kagler) and Best Use of the 1st Amendment/Social Issue Topic (11th grader Shane Brown, Writer and 10th grader Da’Jana Florent, Director)

Over 30 students and 15 adults helped in the making of this film from acting, directing, editing, hair & makeup, lighting, camera work, etc. We are the first team outside of the Shreveport-Bossier area to ever win the Grand Prize. Watch the trailer here!
